As most hairdressers will agree, getting our own hair done is always the bottom of the list. I for one am guilty of a quick trim of my layers in the bathroom mirror, throwing the odd highlight in here and there with a bit of left-over bleach and a 3-minute, 3 clip, up-style for a trip to the playground! So I figured I deserved a well-earned treat for my own hair and I got just that…
The boss of Gold Fever Hair Extensions, Katie Jane Goldin, invited me to their HQ to try out “the finest quality hair extensions in the world”. I was also interested when I heard that Gold Fever are the only company in the world that own its own supply chain!
The application was fast (and painless); my hair feels considerably soft and full. Carolan (based in Black Amber, Rathfarnham) applied them so that I just got volume (as opposed to length). She didn’t put in too many, matching very well with to my own hair density, and keeping them very natural looking. A major benefit is that they are said to last 4-6 months which satisfies my low maintenance requirement (and also my holiday plans!)
People think extensions are just for length – where in fact volume and colour are huge incentives too. You may just want to become blonder, add a bit of balyage or try the new “bronde” trend without even having to colour your hair!
So to sum up, starting at €200 depending on what you wish to achieve, these extensions appear to be worth the investment—treat yourself! (I plan to post an update regarding their performance later in the summer, for those who are unsure.)
